Our TV room and bar area redesign is coming together and I couldn’t be more excited to share the latest updates! The space will go from a room I could never quite love to one that’s beginning to feel like the luxurious, intimate retreat I’ve always wanted. The goal remains the same: dark, moody tones, soft lighting and metallic accents that invite relaxation in the evenings. But now, with some key design elements in place, the transformation is starting to really take shape.
I’m excited to introduce the mood board for the room—it pulls together all the colours, textures and pieces that will bring the vision to life. Here’s a look at the key elements that will define the space:
1. Lighting: A Stunning 10-Light Ceiling Light & Tiltable Spotlights
Lighting can make or break a room and the ceiling light I selected is definitely going to make this space shine. Its aged brass trim and alabaster glass are both timeless and elegant, creating a warm, soft glow that complements the dark, moody atmosphere we’re aiming for. The 10 lights will add just the right amount of drama to the space, enhancing the overall luxurious feel.
The existing white track lights will be replaced by this stunning ceiling light and some spotlights that can be tilted, which will allow us to highlight specific areas of the room and adjust the lighting to set the perfect mood.
2. Dramatic Wallpaper
The bold wallpaper, all the way from the UK, is one of the most exciting features of the redesign. It brings vintage glamour to life with its rich black tones and shimmering gold details. Inspired by art deco, its dramatic curves and intricate patterns are a perfect fit for the room, offering a striking contrast to the softer elements in the space.
3. Darker Walls, Woodwork and Ceiling
To fully embrace the mood we’re going for, the walls, woodwork, and ceiling will all be painted in darker shades. Darker walls add depth and sophistication, while dark ceilings create an intimate atmosphere—especially in a room meant for winding down. The woodwork will be painted to match, ensuring a cohesive and dramatic effect that pulls everything together.
4. A Large Area Rug
A rich, deep rug will the tone for the entire room. The gorgeous floor rug is the perfect anchor, offering warmth and texture with its luxurious colours. It’ll tie together the darker tones and add a touch of softness underfoot, making the room feel intimate and inviting.
5. Curtains: Velvet Drapes in a Berry Colour
One of the biggest changes to the room will be the curtains. The current setup with blackout blinds and sheers just doesn’t do justice to the space. We’ll be moving the sheers to the back and replacing the existing curtains with sumptuous velvet drapes in a delicious berry hue. This new addition will bring a sense of warmth and richness to the room while adding an extra layer of luxury.
6. Textured Metallic Tiles
In the bar area, we’re incorporating small metallic mosaic tiles that will reflect light beautifully. These tiles will add texture and shine, elevating the entire space and providing the perfect backdrop for the glassware and bottles. The metallic finish will complement the overall luxe feel while creating a subtle contrast against the darker walls and woodwork.
With these elements coming together, the mood board is shaping up to create exactly the kind of space I’ve been dreaming of—moody, inviting and a little bit glamorous. It’s all about playing with dark tones, metallic finishes and rich textures. This combination will create an atmosphere that’s perfect for unwinding at the end of the day.
I can’t wait to share the progress as it all starts to take shape, but for now, here’s a sneak peek at the mood board. The pieces are coming together beautifully and I’m excited to see it all come to life! Stay tuned for the big reveal!
