I’m writing this from our lil house in the quiet German village I grew up in and I couldn’t be happier to share a personal video tour of this cosy retreat with you! This charming spot has become our annual go-to escape, where we come unwind and spend time with family and friends.
This year, I was fortunate enough to visit not once, but twice – thanks to my best university friend’s wedding, which took me back to Europe. Although the wedding was elsewhere, the trip gave me the perfect excuse to return to this little slice of tranquility.
A Peek Inside the Lil House
In the video, I guide you through each space, highlighting the personal touches that make this place feel like home. You’ll see the warm, colourful interiors, quirky details and a mix of textures that I love. From the kitchen (where I’ve been trying out new recipes) to the living room (perfect for cosy evenings in), each space has its own story.
When we first built this house, some people questioned why we chose to keep it small, especially when we had enough room to build something bigger. But for us, the cosiness is the appeal – it’s just enough space to feel snug and welcoming without being overwhelming. This intentional simplicity makes it the perfect getaway.
Future Plans
Even though the house already feels like home, there are still a few things I’d like to change. I’m planning to add some cosy rugs in the living area and bedroom to add texture, interest and colour. I also want to do more planting outdoors – I’m imagining a lovely lush, green space around the deck.
