Design Inspiration: Transforming our TV Room into a Moody, Luxe Retreat

I’ve been diving into the redesign of our TV room and bar area, and gathering inspiration is always one of the most exciting parts of the process. There’s something about seeing other spaces that really gets the creative juices flowing and it’s helped me narrow down exactly what I want this room to feel like.

The goal: a moody, grown-up, luxurious vibe where we can unwind, sip a drink and watch movies in a space that feels intimate and inviting. Think dark walls, soft lighting and metallic accents. To give you a peek into the design direction for the space, check out the inspiration board above.

Key Design Elements for a Moody, Luxurious TV Room and Bar

Dramatic Wallpaper – I’ve chosen an art deco-inspired wallpaper in rich colours and shimmering gold. It’s bold, vintage and will give the room the dramatic flair it needs.
Moody Paint Colours – Darker ceilings will add so much intimacy, making the room feel enclosed and sophisticated.
Textured Tiles – I’m planning to use small metallic mosaic tiles around the bar nook. They’ll reflect light in a subtle way, adding just the right amount of texture and shine.
Warm Lighting – For lighting, I’m drawn to fixtures with brass and smoked glass finishes. They’ll complement the dark walls and metallic accents, creating a soft, welcoming glow.
Curtains – Finally, I’m looking at deep, velvety curtains in a rich, sumptuous colour to add a layer of warmth and luxury to the space. They’ll be the perfect finishing touch to bring the whole room together.
