Stuck at an airport for a long layover? Join a transit tour! A number of airports around the world offer short excursion and sightseeing trips to travellers who’re looking to make the most of their time between connecting flights. I did just that in Qatar when I joined a Doha transit tour.
Last time I travelled back from Germany to New Zealand and found myself in Doha for an 8h layover – the perfect opportunity to check out what the city has to offer! The airport is quite close to the city centre and tours can be booked inside the terminal. I didn’t pre-book the excursion, however online reservations are possible.
My flight arrived in Doha as it was getting dark and and luckily the tours also run in the evening. My tour started at 7pm and I was back at the airport at 10pm which left plenty of time for a shower and a quick bite to eat.
