1. Converted Cement Silo – Raglan, Waikato District, North Island

We recently stayed in a converted cement silo in Raglan, Waikato District. Spending a long weekend here was a true highlight. This unique cylindrical structure is a fascinating architectural transformation that blends industrial charm with modern comfort. The stunning views over Raglan’s natural beauty only added to the experience.

Raglan itself is a vibrant and welcoming town, with charming restaurants, lovely shops, and inspiring art galleries just a short stroll away from the silo. Whether you’re an outdoor enthusiast or an art lover, this stay offers a unique mix of both worlds. It’s a place we’ll definitely return to.

2. Tiny House “The Apple” – Lower Moutere, Tasman District, South Island

Next up, I was completely charmed by a tiny house called “The Apple” in Lower Moutere, Tasman District. Nestled in a semi-rural location, this tiny house is small in size but big in heart. Every detail has been thoughtfully crafted to make the most of the space, creating a cosy and comfortable retreat.

Waking up to the sun streaming through the windows above the sleeping platform was a magical start to each day. The surrounding nature only added to the tranquillity, making it the perfect spot to unwind and reconnect with myself or a loved one.

3. Off-grid Safari Glamping – Matakana, Rodney District, North Island

For my final unique stay, we ventured into the wilderness for an off-grid safari glamping experience in Matakana, Rodney District. Seemingly in the middle of nowhere, this place is designed for those who want to unplug and immerse themselves in nature.

The outdoor kitchen, open fire, and the chance to take a bath under the open sky made this a truly rustic yet glamorous experience. We left feeling completely relaxed and rejuvenated after spending my days surrounded by the sounds and sights of nature.
