I love listening to podcasts while driving or doing housework—they make the time fly. Occasionally I’ll pop one on during a walk too. But with so many out there these days, it can be hard to know which ones are actually worth your time. So here’s a little list of my current favourite podcasts that I keep coming back to.
Homing In
Hosted by Matt Gibberd, co-founder of The Modern House, this UK-based podcast explores how our homes shape our identities. Each episode features intimate conversations recorded in the guest’s own space—on their sofa or around their kitchen table—making it feel like you’re right there with them. It’s a beautifully produced series that feels like a warm, thoughtful chat about life, memory and design.

History’s secret heroes
Narrated by Helena Bonham Carter, this BBC podcast uncovers astonishing, lesser-known stories of courage and resistance during World War II. From undercover agents to daring saboteurs, each episode is a cinematic dive into the lives of people who risked everything. It’s gripping, emotional and often leaves me in awe.

Ladies, we need to talk
This Australian podcast, hosted by Yumi Stynes, dives into the topics women often think about but rarely discuss openly—like sexuality, mental health and the mental load. It’s candid, funny and deeply relatable, often feeling like a conversation with your most honest friend.

Super Creative
Hosted by Catie Dawson in New Zealand, Super Creative features candid conversations with inspiring women thriving in creative businesses. They discuss creativity, strategy, productivity, marketing, success, failure, fulfilment, health, happiness and everything in between. It’s a behind-the-scenes look at the clever women who make a living being creative, and how they do it.

The Chromologist
A podcast by Farrow & Ball, hosted by colour expert Patrick O’Donnell, The Chromologist explores how colour influences our homes, minds and identities. Each episode features conversations with creatives, designers and performers who share their stories through colour. It’s a delightful exploration of the shades that shape our lives.

The diary of a CEO
Hosted by Steven Bartlett in the UK, this podcast offers an unfiltered journey into the remarkable stories and untold dimensions of the world’s most influential people, experts and thinkers. From entrepreneurs to thought leaders, each episode delves deep into their personal and professional lives, offering insights and inspiration.

Feel better, live more
Dr. Rangan Chatterjee, a UK-based GP, hosts this podcast focusing on health and wellbeing. He features expert interviews and discussions on topics like nutrition, sleep, stress and movement, aiming to simplify health and empower listeners to make positive changes.

Grey Areas
Hosted by Petra Bagust in New Zealand, Grey Areas is about growing up and going grey in Aotearoa. Petra explores topics related to aging, identity and life transitions with a mix of humour and depth. It’s a thoughtful and engaging listen that resonates with those navigating the complexities of midlife.

Limited Series I Loved
Just Married: The Anthea Bradshaw Mystery
This Australian true crime podcast investigates the mysterious death of Anthea Bradshaw, who was killed just three months after her wedding. Journalist Ben Avery delves into the case, uncovering twists and turns that keep you hooked.
The Agent
A gripping US-based podcast that tells the true story of Jack Barsky, the longest-surviving known member of the KGB illegals program during the Cold War. Barsky lived undercover in America for a decade, leading dual lives on both sides of the Atlantic. It’s a fascinating tale of espionage and identity.

These podcasts have been my companions during chores, drives, and the occasional walk. They offer a mix of inspiration, education, and entertainment that enriches my daily routines. If you have any favourites to recommend, I’d love to hear them!
